About the Position: Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Risk & Underwriting, the Risk Analyst I is responsible for the oversight of merchant accounts to identify, investigate and mitigate activity that represents financial risk to the Company based on Company guidelines. The Risk Analyst supports the Risk department’s function in protecting the Company against the risk of loss associated with providing products/services for customers.
- Conducting daily, weekly, monthly reviews of merchant activity and analyzing for increased credit risk, transactional variations, dispute activity, and fraud patterns.
- Proactively monitoring all merchant activities for compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Investigating abnormal processing patterns and recommending appropriate actions.
- Reviewing and analyzing financial, credit and publicly available information to support actions and decisions.
- Assessing and evaluating business model risk and exposure by evaluating merchant industry type, processing volume, refunds volume, delivery time frames and disputes.
- Answering internal and external inquiries specific to risk.
- Supporting specialized projects on an as-needed basis as directed by Department or Company leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in Risk Management within the acquiring industry.
- Experience with various tools used for underwriting and due diligence (i.e. Equifax, TIN Check, MATCH, GIACT, Merlink, etc.).
- Experience working in call center environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of various verticals and associated risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of emerging technologies and trends in the payments space.
- Ability to analyze, test, assess and / or interpret information or data to make recommendations to enhance business operations.
- Possesses strong analytical and research skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously while producing a high output of quality work.
- Possesses a high degree of trustworthiness and ethical behavior of an individual with consideration for the knowledge one has of the impact and consequences when deciding or taking action.
