About the Position: Reporting to the VP, Legal, the Legal Assistant provides comprehensive legal support to the company’s Legal Department. The Legal Assistant provides assistance with document management, administrative tasks and other tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the legal department.
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, responses to document requests, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal procedures.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Department, including, without limitation, managing calendars, scheduling, making copies, preparing internal files, managing meeting records and maintaining files related to same.
- Attend meetings and take accurate notes for managing attorneys.
- Assist with preparation of documents, including, without limitation, correspondences, court filings, logs and trackers, and other documents and data relevant to the operation of the Legal Department.
- Provide assistance with managing and organizing case files, including maintaining electronic and physical records, tracking deadlines, and coordinating with external parties.
- Communicate with internal and external parties by phone, email, and in person to conduct interviews and field questions on behalf of the Department.
- Maintain Department policies and procedures, manage document repositories.
- Intake, scan, enter to relevant trackers, and distribute incoming mail and requests to the Department.
- Maintain Department lists and trackers to support reporting functions of the Department.
- Conduct legal research and analysis under the direction and supervision of legal personnel to support attorneys in case preparation, strategy, and decision-making.
- Support ad-hoc tasks and projects as required by the VP, Legal or executive leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrates organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other team members.
- Ability to critically think and problem-solve to analyze legal issues and find solutions.
- Proficiency Microsoft Office products including Excel
- Knowledge of all Card Brand rules and regulations and ability to interpret.
- Analyzing, testing, assessing and / or interpreting information or data provided by Dev group to make recommendations to enhance business operations.
- Understanding of various and complex verticals and associated risks.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and facts in writing and otherwise.
- Ability to support, promote, and ensure alignment with the organization's vision and values.
- Ability to understand how an organization must change in light of internal and external trends and influences.
- Ability to focus personal efforts on achieving results consistent with the organization's objectives.
- Ability to effectively manage and guide group efforts. This includes providing the appropriate level of feedback concerning group progress
- Ability to support effective recruitment, selection, development, and retention of team staff.
