About the Position: 
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Risk & Underwriting, the Risk Manager is responsible for compliance-related functions as it relates to Maverick’s portfolio, drafting and implementing compliance policies and procedures for Maverick and its sponsor banks, audits, and other key tasks associated with overall compliance.
  • Directing review of merchant activity for increased credit risk, transactional variations, dispute activity, and fraud patterns. 
  • Assisting with tasks related to Risk Management / loss prevention and other duties as assigned by the AVP Risk.
  • Advising on policy and procedure enhancements to enhance Risk function throughout the Company.
  • Manage reporting required by Sponsor Banks, key departments, and as needed on an ad hoc basis.
  • Respond to Risk related inquiries from internal and external parties, including staff, resellers, partners, regulatory agencies and law enforcement.
  • Investigate & resolve potential violations and recommend appropriate corrective policy/procedure changes.
  • Cross-departmental assistance on an as needed basis for abnormal processing patterns and recommend appropriate mitigation, including underwriting and risk teams.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, card brand rules and industry standards that could impact the organization’s compliance obligations.
  • Planning and directing the work of Department employees using independent judgment within Company parameters. 
  • Coordinating hiring, training, and performance management for Risk Department personnel.
  • Assigning Department personnel to investigate abnormal processing patterns and recommend appropriate mitigation.
  • Overseeing investigations into abnormal customer activity and recommendation and implementation of appropriate mitigation.
  • Provide white-glove support to key reseller partners and merchants.
  • Work closely with the Risk Executives as it relates to Maverick’s overall strategy for loss prevention and risk mitigation. 
  • Acting as an escalation point to resolve unique and/or complex business development and risk issues that do not have standardized solution.
  • Personally, performs the more sensitive and complex risk and underwriting functions for more complex or significant cases using independent judgment and within company's standards
  • This position will consider remote candidates in the following states: 
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years prior experience in Risk Management within acquiring industry
  • Previous experience in leadership capacity.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, with a concentration in excel.
  • Knowledge of all Card Brand rules and regulations and ability to interpret
  • Analyzing, testing, assessing and / or interpreting information or data provided by Dev group to make recommendations to enhance business operations.
  • Understanding of various and complex verticals and associated risks.
  • Familiarity with various Risk Management tools including, without limitation, TSYS, Merlink, E-connections, G2, Legit Script, MasterCard Connect, Aperia etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and facts in writing and otherwise.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and trends in the payments space.
  • Ability to support, promote, and ensure alignment with the organization's vision and values.
  • Ability to understand how an organization must change in light of internal and external trends and influences

Pay Range:  $90K- $100K
